The technology class is educational and fun as students learn about parts of the computer, develop keyboarding skills, create projects using multimedia software, video production, and webpage creation. Students also learn entry-level coding and safe internet research practices. We focus on developing keyboarding skills beginning at the second grade level.
We encourage our middle school students to participate in the Alabama Competitions for Technology in Education (ACTE) Regional Computer Science Fair hosted by Coastal Alabama Community College in Bay Minette, Alabama. If students place 1st or 2nd, they are eligible to compete at the ACTE State level in Montgomery, Alabama.
Every year, since the beginning of our participation in the ACTE technology competition, students from SPCS have qualified and/or won at the state level. We are very proud of the success and accomplishments our students have continued to achieve in our technology program.
