Sixth graders, Leena Smith and Sam Curran; and seventh grader, Mary Grace Brown, along with chaperone/teacher Deborah Brown, attended the ACYC Jr. Called and Chosen retreat held Saturday, May 5th at St. Michael Catholic HS. The retreat is held twice a year in different locations of the Archdiocese of Mobile. Students worshipped, had fun, and met other 6th, 7th, and 8th graders from around the Archdiocese.
Students, faculty, and friends gathered around the statue of Mary to place flowers and sing in celebration for the annual May Crowning, honoring Mary, the mother of Jesus. Everyone prayed the
Hail Mary and sang,
O Mary We Crown Thee With Blossoms Today, as Kannon Seals (Grd8), placed the crown upon Mary’s statue assisted by Kirsten Caine (Grd8) and Nathalie Maldonado (Grd7).
Students in Mrs. Deborah Brown's 8th grade class took us on a journey through Holy Week. In groups, students created a display for Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Easter Sunday; “A Walk Through Holy Week”. Classes took the walk and learned about each day as the 8th graders gave their presentation and lead the group in prayer.
Students at St. Patrick Catholic School in Robertsdale celebrated Mass and received ashes on Ash Wednesday. In preparation for Easter, every family was invited to participate in the weekly Lenten Challenge; this includes daily prayer and doing a good deed as a family.
In honor of the feast day of St. Blaise (Feb.3), the Blessing of the Throats ceremony was during our Children’s Mass on Friday. Students, faculty and parishioners were in attendance. All throats were blessed with prayers for protection from disease and illnesses.
SPCS is participating in the #BoxOfJoy program, along with the other schools & parishes in the Archdiocese of Mobile. "Box of Joy", administered by Cross Catholic Outreach, sends Christmas boxes to children living in poverty in developing nations. Today, students are packing & getting ready to send out the boxes! Thank you for your kindness, thank you for supporting our efforts, thank you for giving!
A spectacular day for the annual Blessing of the Pets at St. Patrick Catholic! On October 4th, we celebrated the Blessing of the Pets with Father William James; the feast day for St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals. Fr. James blessed the pets, and photos of the pets, for students, families, and friends who gathered on campus for this event.
This month our “Loose Change Wednesday” collection goes to Carlin’s Courage Foundation, helping to find a cure for childhood cancer. Our middle school students work together collecting loose change donations every Wednesday in the morning car line and from each classroom. Everyone is looking forward to presenting the donations to William and Alice Davis, parents of Carlin, who lost her battle with cancer and went home to God on September 17, 2013.
The eighth graders collected donations during Friday’s Mass and throughout the day at St. Patrick Catholic. Donations will be sent to the Archdiocese of Mobile to help a small Catholic school in the Houston area. Thank you for opening your hearts and giving!
FIRST COMMUNION - Second Grade Congratulations to all of our students who received their First Holy Communion. It was a beautiful and inspiring ceremony. Thank you to everyone who made it so special!

A Walk Through Holy Week: a project designed so that the 8th graders could deepen their knowledge of Christianity's holiest days. In turn they shared that understanding with the entire SPCS student body, teachers, and staff in an interactive, visual prayer service. (...)
SPCS eighth graders attended the beautiful Chrism Mass at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Mobile, held annually on Holy Tuesday. Students experienced the blessing of the holy oils and the vow renewal of our archdiocesan priests - including our own Fr. Jim. Afterward, students enjoyed a picnic lunch in Cathedral Square and visiting with other Catholic school students.
Students, faculty, and staff attended Mass on Ash Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Father Jim explained the meaning and purpose of the Lenten season; all received ashes.
An annual holiday tradition is the decorating of the Chancery Christmas trees. On December 6th, Mrs. Dembowski and her fourth grade students from St. Patrick Catholic School had the honor of decorated Archbishop Rodi's Christmas Tree. Students made a variety of decorations using a celtic theme. Sr. Margaret Harte, Principal, placed a celtic cross on top of the tree. Our Pastor, Fr. Jim Morrison, was present to lend a helping hand. The students joined Archbishop Rodi, Monsignor Farmer, Superintendent Gwen Byrd and other members of the Archdiocesan Staff in singing Christmas carols. Refreshments were served, and Archbishop Rodi blessed everyone with a special Christmas blessing.
St. Patrick Catholic School celebrated Mass with Archbishop Thomas Rodi and Superintendent Gwen Byrd at the Children’s Mass last Friday. After Mass, Fr. Jim and Sr. Margaret accompanied the archbishop and superintendent on a tour of the school visiting each classroom and talking with the students and teachers. Archbishop Rodi’s very first visit to St. Patrick Catholic was in 2008 when our current 8th graders were in kindergarten. Students enjoyed Archbishop Rodi’s homily from the book of Jonah, and talking with him and Superintendent Gwen Byrd during their classroom visit. Students and faculty began the school week saying the pledge and prayers in Presentation Hall during our morning assembly. Sr. Margaret lit the first candle on the Advent wreath and said, "As we prepare to celebrate the wondrous feast of Christmas, we ask the Lord to help us to Be God's Light in the World. Jesus, teach us never to hurt others by our words and actions. May the power of Your Love help us to prepare the way for You, by being kind, caring and full of hope for peace in our world."
Dressed as the saints they have been researching in religion class, 8th grade students shared at the All Saints Day Mass about the ways of holiness they learned from their saints. Small acts of kindness, doing for others, and depending on Jesus were some of the insights shared by the students. Students also completed a slide presentation about their saints.
