SPCS sixth through eighth grade students enjoyed a religion field trip to the Springhill Avenue Temple and the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Mobile. They were welcomed at the temple by Rabbi Kosovske and Patricia Silverman, Religious School Education Director. The students learned many details about Jewish life and worship. They especially enjoyed hearing the rabbi read from the Torah scroll in Hebrew and getting an up close view of the handwritten scroll. Mrs. Silverman showed the students the many activities of the congregation's youth. Afterwards, the students visited our cathedral and were treated to a tour by Mr. Tilman Brown, one of the docents. He shared much of the symbolism and history of our beautiful cathedral. One of the highlights was seeing the crypt below the cathedral where many bishops are buried.
